Making it easier for banks to approve Guaranteed Investment Certificates, through secure data transfer and faster for international students to study abroad.

Designing a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) flow for the Royal Bank of Canada and international students.


Formed a partnership with the Royal Bank of Canada through my presentation of this project also resulting in +10,000 GICs (and counting) issued.


Impacted thousands of international students while working in the education technology sector.

My Work

  1. Continuously spoke to stakeholders to understand problem space, design constraints and requirements.

  2. Detailed high-fidelity desktop screens for various user entry points and form submissions.

  3. Developed prototypes for design exploration and stakeholder presentations.

  4. Designed the onboarding flow for new users, and the login and password reset flow for returning users.

  5. Utilized the company design system for fast and consistent designing.

UX Necessities

  • Must have an API solution to request client data from backend preventing user frustration when re-filling information.

  • Not every student will personally cover all costs and will require an option to request payment assistance.
